1. The question raised in this case is whether a compromise in respect of an offence alleged to have been committed under Section 307 of the IPC is permissible.

2. Our attention has been drawn to Narinder Singh v. State of Punjab1 and State of Rajasthan v. Shambhu Kewat2.

3. In view of the apparent conflict between these two decisions, it would be appropriate if the matter is referred to a Bench of 3 Judges constituted by Hon’ble the Chief Justice.
