Order
1. For the reasons stated, the application for impleadment is allowed and the applicants are impleaded as party petitioners in the array of parties.
2. The newly added petitioners have filed an application being I.A. No. 42870/2020 seeking a direction to the respondents to make appointments to the posts of Member(s) and that the tenure of the Chairperson of Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (for short, the ‘TDSAT’) which is coming to end on 20.04.2020, be extended for a period of at least one year or till the process of fresh appointment of the Chairperson and/or Member(s) is completed.
3. We express our concern regarding appointments of Administrative Member(s) and Technical Member(s) not being made after they have fallen vacant long back. We extend the tenure of the Chairperson of TDSAT for a period of three months from the date of expiry of his/her tenure i.e. 20.04.2020.
4. List this matter in the first week of May 2020.
5. In the meantime, Mr. Tushar Mehta, learned Solicitor General appearing for the respondents-Union of India, will take instructions regarding the steps being taken for appointments of the Member(s) of TDSAT.
