Judgment

Leave granted.

2. We have heard learned counsel for the respective parties and perused the material on record.

3. We are inclined to interfere only with regard to the rate of interest that has been imposed by the National Consumers Disputes Redressal Commission (for short “NCDRC”). On perusal of paragraph 11(1) of the order of the NCDRC, it is noted that 18% per annum interest was awarded to the respondents herein and if certain charges were not deposited then 12% per annum had to be paid towards those charges.

4. We modify the same by substituting “18% per annum” with 12% per annum and “12% per annum” by 9% per annum, the rest of the order of the NCDRC remains the same.

5. Consequently, these appeals are allowed in part in the aforesaid terms.

6. It is stated by learned counsel for the appellants that there has already been a deposit made. In the event any further deposit has to be made, the same shall be made within a period of three months from today.

Pending application(s), if any, shall stand disposed of.
