1. By order dated 10.07.2017 passed in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 412 of 2016, this Court had directed the State Governments and the Union Territories to file status reports on or before 01.08.2018.
2. According to the office report, following States and Union Territories have not filed any Status Report/Compliance Affidavit in pursuance of the above order:

02. State of Arunachal Pradesh
03. State of Assam
04. State of Bihar
05. State of Haryana
06. State of Himachal Pradesh
07. State of Jammu & Kashmir
08. State of Jharkhand
09. State of Karnataka
10. State of Kerala
11. State of Madhya Pradesh
12. State of Maharashtra
13. State of Manipur
14. State of Mizoram
15. State of Odisha
16. State of Rajasthan
17. State of Sikkim
18. State of Tripura
19. State of Uttarakhand
20. State of Uttar Pradesh
21. U.t. of Daman & Diu
22. U.T. of Lakshadweep
3. However, State of Tripura has now filed the Status Report.
4. We, therefore, issue notice to all the aforesaid States and UTs, except State of Tripura, returnable within four weeks.
5. Learned counsel appearing for some of the defaulting States pray for some time to file the status report. All the concerned States and UTs are directed to file their responses within two weeks. In case, appropriate responses are not filed, we may impose costs on the defaulting States/UTs.
6. At this stage, personal presence of all the alleged contemnors is dispensed with.
7. List the matter immediately after four weeks.
