Order

1. The issue in these Special Leave Petitions pertains to the selection and appointment to the post of Probationary Officer Grade-I in the Women and Child Development Department of the State of Karnataka.

2. The learned counsel for the State and the Public Service Commission pointed out that the selection has already been completed and the selected candidates have been appointed, except for one vacancy, which is the subject matter of a litigation pending before the High Court.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner points out that steps have reportedly been initiated for fresh selection.

4. In case the petitioner is otherwise qualified, in view of the peculiar facts of this case, we direct that the petitioner also be permitted to participate in the selection process, by granting him appropriate relaxation with respect to age only.

5. However, the submission made by the learned counsel for the State pursuant to our order dated 11.09.2017 that there is no vacancy arising out of the Notification dated 18.01.2012 available except the one referred to above, is recorded.

6. In view of the above, the Special Leave Petitions are disposed of.

7. Pending interlocutory applications, if any, stand disposed of.
