1. Mr. Basant Pratap Singh, Chief Secretary is present in the Court today.

2. He says that an advertisement has been issued for appointment of Chairperson and Members of the State Food Commission. As such, at present there is no compliance of the requirements of the National Food Security Act, 2013.

3. The Chief Secretary should be present again on the next date of hearing.

Karnataka

4. Application seeking exemption from personal appearance is dismissed.

5. The Chief Secretary should be present tomorrow (27.04.2017) at 3.00 pm.

Andhra Pradesh

6. Mr. Dinesh Kumar, Chief Secretary is present in Court today.

7. He says that the appointments will be made in accordance with the Act.

8. The Chief Secretary should be present on the next date of hearing.

Telangana

9. Application seeking exemption from personal appearance of the Chief Secretary of the State of Telangana is allowed in view of the Hon’ble President of India visiting in the State of Telangana.

10. We have gone through the affidavit filed by the Chief Secretary. The State Food Commission has been appointed.

11. His presence is no longer necessary.

Maharashtra

13. He says that a notification has been issued on 11.04.2017 appointing Members of the State Food Commission under the provisions of the National Food Security Act, 2013.

14. Surprisingly, we find that there is no nomination or appointment of Members belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

15. He says that they are still searching suitable persons belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

16. Learned ASG says that within two weeks, a Member of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will be appointed as a Member of the State Food Commission.

17. The Chief Secretary should be present on the next date of hearing.

Gujarat

18. Mr. J.N. Singh, Chief Secretary is present in the Court today.

19. The appointments to the State Food Commission have been made. His presence is no longer necessary.

Jharkhand

20. Ms. Rajbala Verma, Chief Secretary is present in the Court today.

Bihar

23. We find that two persons have not yet been appointed to the State Food Commission.

26. It has been brought to our notice by the learned ASG that the case for removal of the existing Members of the State Food Commission is pending final disposal in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Day-to-day hearing is going on in the matter for final disposal.

27. We make it clear that there is no interim order passed by this Court in this regard and the pending proceedings in this Court do not come in the way of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in deciding the matter.

28. We request the Punjab and Haryana High Court to dispose of the matter at the earliest.

Chhattisgarh
