1. We have heard the learned Senior counsel appearing for the appellants and the learned counsel appearing for the respondent.

2. After having heard the learned Senior counsel/learned counsel appearing for the parties and taking into consideration the fact that the respondent has retired long back in the year 2010 and the High Court has granted only 25% of the backwages to the respondent, we see no reason to interfere with the impugned order passed by the High Court.

3. Accordingly, the appeal is dismissed.

4. However, the question of law is kept open.

5. We make it clear that the order passed in this Civil Appeal shall not be treated as a precedent in any other matter.
