It refers to letter dated 29.09.2020 received from Ministry of External Affairs which in turn states that the extradition proceedings initiated against the Contemnor have attained finality with rejection of the application for permission to appeal to Supreme Court of United Kingdom. It also states that the service of order dated 31.08.2020 upon the Contemnor was effected by Hertfordshire Constabulary on 30.09.2020.

1. Status Report under the signature of Mr. M.K. Chahar, Under Secretary, Legal Cell, Internal Security-II Division, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has been placed on record. It refers to letter dated 29.09.2020 received from Ministry of External Affairs which in turn states that the extradition proceedings initiated against the Contemnor have attained finality with rejection of the application for permission to appeal to Supreme Court of United Kingdom. It also states that the service of order dated 31.08.2020 upon the Contemnor was effected by Hertfordshire Constabulary on 30.09.2020.

2. In any case, the Contemnor has been represented by Mr. E.C. Agrawala, learned advocate of this Court and the order dated 31.08.2020 was pronounced in open Court.

3. The Status Report however refers to certain legal proceedings concerning the Contemnor which are still pending.

4. The learned counsel appearing for the Ministry submits that the nature of those proceedings is not known nor is Government of India party to said proceedings.

5. Mr. Ankur Saigal, learned counsel appearing for the Contemnor has, therefore, been asked:—

a. What is the nature of said proceedings;

b. What is the relief prayed for in said proceedings; and

c. What is the present status of the proceedings.

6. Mr. Saigal is, however, unable to answer these questions and seeks time to take appropriate instructions.

7. List this matter on 02.11.2020 at 2.00 P.M.
