Order
1. From the affidavits that have been filed by the News Broadcasting Standards Authority (NBSA), it is quite clear that no prosecution has been launched against any of the alleged offenders in spite of the fact that some of the offences invite criminal liability and prosecution.
2. Learned counsel for the Press Council of India, the Editors Guild and the Indian Broadcasting Federation should file an affidavit indicating specifically whether these bodies can inform the police about an offence and if so, why they have not informed the police about offences having been allegedly committed by the alleged offenders and why steps have not been taken for prosecution of the alleged offenders. Necessary affidavits be filed within three weeks.
3. List the matter on 30.11.2018.
