1. List the matter on 08.10.2018.
Reporting in Press and Electronic Media
2. We had passed a detailed order1 relating to Reporting in Press and Electronic Media about offences against children particularly sexual offences.
3. We had required the assistance of the Press Council of India, the News Broadcasting Standards Authority, the Editors Guild and the Indian Broadcasting Federation. Subsequent to our order, the Office Report is that all these bodies have been served. However, only the News Broadcasting Standards Authority has put in appearance. There is no appearance at all from the Press Council of India, the Editors Guild and the Indian Broadcasting Federation.
4. Be that as it may, we have requested learned senior counsel appearing on behalf of the News Broadcasting Standards Authority to inform us on affidavit with regard to action taken against any person who has violated the statutory requirements under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, Indian Penal Code and the Juvenile Justice Act.
5. We have also requested him to place on affidavit action taken against any person who has violated any of the guidelines of the News Broadcasting Standards Authority in the year 2018.
6. Learned senior counsel says that he will file an affidavit within three days.
7. Mr. Shekhar Naphade, learned senior counsel says that he will request his Advocate on Record to formally inform the Press Council of India, the Editors Guild and the Indian Broadcasting Federation that no one has appeared on their behalf despite service.
8. List the matter for this purpose on 22.10.2018.
