1. It appears to us that the implementation of the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation and Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996 is a complete flop in the city of Mumbai.
2. We have been told by learned counsel appearing for the State of Maharashtra that about 70,000 workers have been registered in Mumbai but benefits have been given to about 11,000 workers.
3. What has happened to the balance 59,000 workers is not known. What are the benefits given to these 11,000 workers is not known. This is shocking.
4. List the matter in third week of January, 2019.
