1. We have seen and considered the report of Shri Prateek Hajela, learned State Coordinator for National Registration (NRC), Assam dated 7th May, 2018. We take note of the fact that the learned State Coordinator is optimistic of completion of the entire process of final publication of the NRC within the stipulated time, subject to limited change of time-lines, if required. We do not wish to record anything further except to direct the learned State Coordinator to proceed with the work entrusted to him by the several orders of this Court and cause publication of the final NRC on schedule.
2. The request of the learned State Coordinator with regard to the development of a system to provide reasons of rejection without bringing the same in the public domain so as to protect the privacy of the applicant(s) (as mentioned in paragraph 10 of the report of learned State Coordinator dated 7th May, 2018) is allowed. Similarly, the request of the learned State Coordinator in paragraph 11 of his report dated 7th May, 2018 to call the applicants to the NRC Seva Kendras instead of going house to house so far as DM’s investigation in respect of verification of documents is also allowed.
3. The matter be listed on 2nd July, 2018.
